Scholarship Funds

Scholarship funds are opened by donors who are interested in helping students pursue university, college, or vocational educations, using criteria of the donor’s choosing.  The funds can support students who are studying a particular subject or graduating from a specific school.

Ain’t Noth’n Ever Been Got That Ain’t Been Went Out After Scholarship/Terwilliger Trust

Viola L. Allen and Oscar A. Allen Scholarship Fund
Created by Viola L. Allen and Oscar A. Allen, this scholarship is awarded to ­female Ukiah High School seniors and/or graduates with a serious interest in pursuing careers in the healthcare field. To learn more about the inspiration behind this scholarship, click here.

Warren "Ed" Brown Scholarship Fund
In honor of Ukiah High School alumnus, Warren “Ed” Brown, Ed’s family, through the Ukiah High School Alumni Association, created this scholarship.  Awardees are selected for their desire to pursue a career in mathematics or engineering; their prior academic performance and their financial need. To learn more about the inspiration behind this scholarship, click here.

California Retired Teachers’ Association (CRTA) Division 55 Bessie Scott Scholarship Fund
Created in 1970 by Mendocino County retired teachers in memory of Ukiah teacher, Bessie Scott, this scholarship is awarded to Mendocino County public high school seniors who plan to attend college to study education. To learn more about the inspiration behind this scholarship, click here.

California Retired Teachers’ Association (CRTA) Division 55 Hilmer Finne Music Scholarship Fund
Created by Mendocino County retired teachers in honor of Hilmer and Vivian Finne, this scholarship is awarded to Mendocino County public high school seniors who plan to attend college to study music. To learn more about the inspiration behind this scholarship, click here.

Walter Camp STEM Scholarship Fund
Created in honor of Walter Camp by his family, wife Jane and sons Tomki and Blaise, this scholarship is awarded to a Mendocino County high school senior (excluding Ukiah High School*) pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). Jean Cannon Scholarship Fund
Created by Marvin “Scotty” Cannon in honor of his wife Jean Cannon, this scholarship is for Ukiah High School graduating seniors who will pursue a career that focuses on improving the lives of women and children. To learn more about the history of this scholarship, click here.

Randy Clark Memorial Vocational Scholarship Fund
Created in memory of Randy Clark, who died February 16, 2002, at the age of 21, this scholarship is for Willits High School seniors and graduates who are members of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) or 4H Clubs and plan to pursue vocational careers. Community Foundation of Mendocino Scholarship Fund
Established for Mendocino County high school seniors who may not quite fit other scholarship criteria but who differentiate themselves during the interview process.

M. Cecil and Alice M. Gowan Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by Josephine N. Gowan and Cecil and Alice Gowan’s grandchildren and their families to honor their grandparents’ legacy and to continue the scholarship created by M. Cecil Gowan as a memorial to his wife Alice in 1978. This scholarship fund provides an annual scholarship to an Anderson Valley High School graduating senior.

Hammond Trust Emergency Services Scholarship Fund
Created by the Ukiah Fire Fighters Association in honor of Virginia and George Hammond, this scholarship is awarded to Mendocino County high school students and/or graduates to attend the Explorer Academy, emergency medical technician (EMT) or paramedic training, Fire Academy, or a Bachelors in Fire Science degree program. Todd Hudson Memorial Basketball Scholarship Fund
Created by Jay and Terri Hudson in the memory of their son, Todd Hudson, this scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Fort Bragg High School who played for the boys Varsity basketball team during his senior year. To learn more about the history of this scholarship, click here.

The Jonathan Family Scholarship Fund

Created by William Wagner in honor of the Jonathan family, this scholarship is for Laytonville High School seniors who plan to pursue studies in music, art, architecture, building construction and/or design.

Jerry Juhl Fund for the Arts
Created by Susan Juhl in honor of her husband, Jerry, this scholarship is for Mendocino, Fort Bragg and Point Arena High School seniors and former recipients who plan to study the performing arts (music, dance, theatre, film and puppetry) and design (sound, lighting, set and costume). McCarthy and Whitcomb Inland Performing Arts Scholarship Fund
For a high school graduate from Anderson Valley, Ukiah area, Willits, Leggett, Laytonville, or Round Valley who are serious about pursuing a career in the performing arts, including music, theatre, dance, film, puppetry, and related fields at an accredited vocational school, community college or four-year university. MCHC Health Centers: Linnea Hunter Scholarship Fund
Created by MCHC to honor its founder, this scholarship is awarded to children and legal dependents of active Mendocino Community Health Clinic, Inc. employees. To learn more about Linnea and the inspiration behind this scholarship, click here.

Mendocino Agricultural Families’ Scholarship Fund
Created by The Mendocino Winegrowers Alliance and the Savings Bank of Mendocino County and now supported by the Mendocino Winegrowers Foundation and Mendocino Winegrowers Inc. to recognize the invaluable contributions of the agricultural workforce and to invest in the future of the Mendocino County agricultural industry.  This scholarship is awarded to Mendocino County high school seniors who are children of agricultural workers (including the wine, timber, ranching, farming and dairy industries). Alma and August Mendosa Scholarship Fund
Created by Marilyn Herzog in honor of her aunt and uncle as a memorial to Alma Mendosa's 47-year career as a Mendocino educator, this scholarship is for Mendocino High School seniors who plan to attend four-year colleges or universities. Marge Pardini Philanthropy Scholarship Fund
The Redwood Empire Lions Club established this scholarship to honor Marge Pardini’s many years of service to the Club.  Marge’s commitment to the Club and her unwavering dedication to providing for those in need and others in the Ukiah Valley is renown. This scholarship is awarded annually to Mendocino County high school seniors who demonstrate a high level of community involvement during high school.

Penserra Founder's Scholarship Fund
Established by George Madrigal for Willits High School seniors who are first-, second-, or third-generation immigrants and demonstrate the ambition to work hard inside and outside of school. To learn more about the inspiration behind this scholarship, click here.

Fionna and Richard Perkins Scholarship Fund
Created by Fionna and Richard Perkins this scholarship is awarded to women on the Mendocino Coast who are re-entering higher education after being in the workforce. The Perkinses were active in many community projects, including the Coast Community Library which Richard, an architect, designed. In 2000 Fionna was named Poet Laureate of Point Arena. Ryan & Collin Petitte Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by the friends and family of Ryan and Collin Petitte, this scholarship is for Ukiah-area high school seniors who have a strong family bond, a sense of humor and are interested in pursuing careers in wildlife conservation, environmental resource management, or economics. Jesse Pittman Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by the friends and family of Navy Seal Jesse Pittman, this scholarship helps determined young Americans who share Jesse's spirit to continue their development by ensuring an opportunity to attend college. Awarded to Mendocino County high school seniors for their grit, hard work and determination; their desire to answer the call to service and make a difference; their desire to seek adventure and challenge; and their uncommon desire to succeed. Paul and Linda Shimmin Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded annually to graduates from Ukiah High School who are scholar-athletes. Appreciating students who have excelled at athletics during their high school careers. 

Skye Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded to graduates from Mendocino County high schools. A primary consideration will be the student’s altruism and desire to make the world a better place. To learn more about the history of the Skye Scholarship, click here.

Dr. Charles O. and Harriett C. Smith Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award Scholarship Fund
Created by the Smiths’ daughters, Melanie, Tara, and Jennifer to honor their parents who encouraged them to compete and excel. Awarded to Willits High School seniors based on their academic and athletic accomplishments. To learn more about the inspiration behind this scholarship, click here.

David Joseph Talamo Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund
Created by the Talamo Family in honor of their son/brother, David, this scholarship is awarded to Ukiah High School seniors for their sense of humor, love of family and their participation in organized sports throughout high school. Ukiah High School Class of 1960 Scholarship Fund
Created by Robert (Bob) Cannon, who taught many members of the class of 1960 when they were in the fifth grade, this scholarship is awarded to Ukiah High seniors who prioritize community service, family involvement and/or volunteerism while in high school. Ted and Wilma Westman Scholarship Fund
Created by Sandy and John Mayfield in honor of Sandy’s parents, this scholarship is awarded to individuals who have been out of high school for 5 years or more and are returning to trade school. To learn more about the inspiration behind this scholarship, click here.

Woman’s Opportunity Scholarship Fund
