Grants

The Community Foundation of Mendocino County provides grant support in many areas of community life including, but not limited to, education, the arts, community health, alleviation of poverty, youth, and the environment.

The Community Foundation’s annual grant process seeks proposals from non-profit organizations that are based in Mendocino County or from any organization with a project that has specific benefit to Mendocino County residents. Grant applications vary from program to program and are posted when grants are available (you may also contact our office for current requests for proposals).  To gain an understanding of the Community Foundation's grant-making over the past two years, visit the Foundation Center's eReport map.

Scholarships

The Community Foundation of Mendocino County scholarships have been established by local residents, often in memory of a loved one or family member. Endowing a scholarship provides a permanent way of honoring the spirit and attributes of those for whom the scholarships are named.

Some of the Community Foundation scholarships are “countywide,” while others are specific to a region. The donors who establish the funds choose the specific criteria for the awards.  The scholarships awarded to students in 2019 totaled more than $229,000.
