The Passion That Drives Giving

The Community Foundation of Mendocino County has been making a difference since 1992. We have provided over 10 million dollars in grants throughout the county. Behind every fund is a compelling story of a donor's passion and reason for giving back to the community. Here is a selection of stories that reflects the deep caring of Community Foundation donors and the various ways they express it across our communities.

Community Endowment/Undesignated Funds

Field-of-Interest Funds

Field-of-Interest Funds are established to make grants in a specified area of interest (e.g., the environment or human services), or a specified geographical area, or both (Read More...)
Designated Funds

Designated funds are established to support specific organizations, such as a school or nonprofit group, through a perpetual endowment. This category also includes agency endowment funds opened by non-profit organizations (Read More...)
Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised Funds enable donors to contribute assets to their funds at any time and then to periodically make recommendations to the Community Foundation regarding grants from their funds. Scholarship Funds

Scholarship funds are opened by donors who are interested in helping students pursue university, college, or vocational educations, using criteria of the donor’s choosing. The funds can support students who are studying a particular subject or graduating from a specific school (Read More...)
Charitable Remainder Trusts

Giving through a Charitable Remainder Trust allows the donor to receive income for the rest of his or her life, with the remainder at death being placed into a charitable fund (Read More...)
