Types of Funds

We have a variety of great giving options. We can help you choose the one that’s right for you.

Give to an existing fund

Anyone can be a philanthropist with The Community Foundation of Mendocino County. Make a gift of any amount to contribute to an existing fund.

Unrestricted funds meet ever-changing community needs. The needs, and resources, of our community change over time. Donations to unrestricted funds allow our board, staff and supervised volunteers to identify where your philanthropy will have the greatest impact. The area of philanthropy that makes the most sense today, may be replaced by other needs and priorities tomorrow.

Field of interest funds connect personal values to high-impact opportunities. Field of interest donations are targeted towards categories of philanthropy such as the arts, health, or the environment.

Designated funds help local organizations sustain and grow. We have over twenty different funds that benefit specific organizations. If you know of a specific local organization you want to support, we may have a fund in their name.

Scholarships invest in deserving students. With the increasing costs of higher education, support our future by supporting students may be the right choice for you. We have sixteen different scholarship funds covering a variety of Mendocino County geographic regions and student interests.

Donor advised funds offer a personalized approach to giving and may be the right choice for you if you are looking for the tax benefit of planned giving during your lifetime.

Tribute gifts honor community members and commemorate important events.
